The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) formally extended access to a free, quality education to children with disabilities. Since its original enactment in 1975, NEA has continued to work with other organizations to make good on the landmark legislation’s still unfulfilled promise.
As K-12 education reform and early childhood education become more prominent policy concerns and as we learn more about early development and learning, several issues are receiving heightened attention. Below are resources on some of these critical issues.
By education and action: Awareness of the dangers of water is essential. If you surf, there is a safety checklist to consider: be aware of the beach and its conditions; understand rips and how to get out of them; take appropriate equipment; check weather and beach conditions; never surf alone and take surfing lessons.
